Casual Grindz: Pho Bistro 2

Yet another stop on the Food Hunt for Charity! My wife and I stopped in to Pho Bistro 2 this past weekend when it was nice and rainy. The weather unfortunately ruined our plans for hiking, but it made for excellent pho eating!

Pho Bistro 2 is the one place where I love the pho, but never order it. To date I have never ordered pho for myself. Instead I always cave in to ordering the oxtail soup and stealing some pho from my wife! The oxtail soup at Pho Bistro is one of the best, if not the best, I have had here in Hawaii. The portion is large and the broth wonderfully delicious. I’d have to say that Pho Bistro’s oxtail soup would be on my top 10 for “Favorite Rainy Day eats”.

We weren’t the only ones craving the warm, comforting food of Pho Bistro. We arrived at 11:15am and had to circle around the block a couple of times before we snagged some parking. We were lucky to grab a seat because after we placed our order a handful of groups came in looking for their fill of pho. The hostess had to turn some people away because they were so busy!

This is my favorite pho place. Period. I’ve had mixed feelings about telling people about this place. On the one hand, the folks that run Pho Bistro 2 are wonderful and the food is great. I hope they are wildly successful. On the selfish side, I fear I’ll never get a seat once everyone finds out what a gem this is.

My only problem is that I like their oxtail soup and pho equally. Most of the time, I default to pho and love the clear, beefy broth. People who have dined with me at Pho Bistro 2 are always amused that I nail every last drop of the broth. It is that good.
