Howzit! Thanks for visiting the site and I appreciate your interest in finding out more about myself and my little project here. My name is Dale and I am the founder and primary writer for the Hawaii food blog you see here. I am born and raised in beautiful Hawaii. Food and writing is my “night job.” During the day I work with a great bunch of people at a local office for a Fortune 500 company.

Living here for the past 23 years I have had a lot of exposure to a wide variety of cuisine. I can honestly say that my palette is immeasurably better for having lived in Hawaii. I have traveled to many locations in the United States from coast to coast, and had the privilege of sampling cuisine from foreign regions in Asia and Europe. I love the subject of food from the method of how ingredients are grown/created all the way through to its consumption. The history and origin of particular dishes and cuisines is also interesting to me.

I started this site back in 2008 as a food blog with my own reviews of local restaurants. Throughout 2008 and into 2009 I built up over 50 total reviews all featuring in-depth information and pictures. In the middle of 2009 my site’s database decided to completely disappear, leaving me only my few backed up articles. I tried on-and-off in 2009 to revive the site, but being newly married and working at a new company my supply of time was low.

Now that we are in 2010 and things have settled down, I am back again to bring new content to the web. In March I updated the site to be more of a magazine-style blog, as I wanted to branch out and provide different kinds of content to my readers.

I hope that you will join me in my new journey to bring local food articles to the web. Hawaii has so much to share with the culinary world, and I want to help contribute (in my own small way) to spreading the aloha.
