I apologize for the lack of recent restaurant reviews! We have a handful on backlog but it’s been a very busy week with UH Graduation and other events going on.
Be sure to look out for some great new reviews over the long weekend! Aloha!

By popular demand of our readers, who have sent in their input via email, LocoKineGrindz will now feature a quick “price” rating for each restaurant we review. This price rating will appear in all reviews day forward, having started with our review of Toraji Yakiniku.
The rating system is based on “dollar” signs, and works like this:
| Price: | ![]() |
Under $10 per person |
| Price: | ![]() ![]() |
$10+ per person |
| Price: | ![]() ![]() ![]() |
$20+ per person |
| Price: | ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
$30+ per person |
| Price: | ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
$40+ per person |
These ratings will be based on the average price per person for a party of two or more, including appetizers.
With this new price rating we hope to bring our readers even more detail about the restaurants we review.
As always thank you so much for visiting LocoKineGrindz.com! Happy eating!

Aloha!
I wanted to start off by thanking everyone for continuing to visit my little restaurant review blog! Your comments and feedback have been great so far, and inspire me to continue on with my passion of finding great food and passing on my experiences to you.
Over the next week or so, LocoKineGrindz will be undergoing a change in appearance. The new design is intended to make the site a bit simpler and easier to navigate. During this transition there may be periods of time where the site is offline for a few hours.
But don’t worry! LocoKineGrindz will be up and running at full steam again by the end of April!
Thank you again for your continued support. I hope to bring you more reviews as the year rolls on!
Mahalo and happy eating!
– Dale

I know there has been a lack of updates with new restaurant reviews lately. I’ve been out a couple of times since my Chili’s review but haven’t had the time to really just sit down and upload all the photos and write out the review. I promise to get some new reviews up for your reading pleasure this weekend! So please check back with Loco Kine Grindz in a day or two and we should have some exciting new things for you to read!
After taking a look around for some Wordpress themes I finally found one that had the orange color scheme that I liked. Locokinegrindz now has a three column layout making it easier for our readers to browse through the various links and content that will be added to the sidebars. Please enjoy our new style and be sure to check back soon for another review!
Aloha~
Austin, Texas — Whole Foods Market, a popular and fast growing company in the Mainland US, has been working over the last few years to come to Hawaii. The company plans on opening its first store here in the islands at Kahala Mall. There was some talk a year ago about Whole Foods occupying the now blocked off and vacant lot next to the newly built Na Hoku Towers right next to Ward Shopping Centers. But it has become official as far as we know that the first Whole Foods Market will open its doors in Kahala Mall.
Recently, Whole Foods Market has contracted with three local farm companies to supply the new location with their locally grown and organic produce. Ma’o Farms, Poamoho Organic Produce, and Hamakua Springs Country Farms (Big Island) are all working with Whole Foods. The organic produce market has been growing slowly but steadily over the last few years in Hawaii, and with the arrival of Whole Foods, we can expect the popularity of organic produce to increase. The Honolulu Star Bulletin ran an article about these local companies and their new partnership with Whole Foods.
The Kahala location is set to open in spring.
