After our dinner at Tsukiji last night we left the crowded Ho’okipa Terrace and moved on to Ward Center for some dessert. I have eaten cakes and pastries from Satura Cakes a few time before and have always been happy with the quality of the food. Satura tends to feature lighter desserts that go very well with coffee after a big meal. Satura Cakes has three locations on Oahu: Ward Center, Harbor Court Downtown, and Waikiki.
When you walk into a Satura Cakes location you are greeted with a very bright and cheerful atmosphere. Satura Cakes in Hawaii are designed with modern coffee shop furnishings set in lighter color tones. The cheery design of the shop gets you in the mood for the sweet treats that await you behind the counter.

Satura offers a wide variety of dessert and pastry styles. If you ever have a chance to stop by one of these great shops the Classic Chocolate Cake and Strawberry Shortcake should definitely make your list of items to try. Satura Cakes offers a “sampler” menu that gives you a small taste of 4 of their more popular pastries and desserts for a little cheaper price (save about $4) than if you got them all separately. If you’ve never been to Satura before this might be a good way for you to sample multiple items!
We ended up ordering some coffee and two different desserts. I picked up a cup of their Tiramisu ($4.95), and my fiancee elected to try their cream puff ($2.75). Satura has a wide assortment of different coffee and hot beverages for you to match with your dessert. The coffee of the day ($1.70) always suits me just fine, but their espresso seems to be quite popular among dessert-eaters as well.
The Tiramisu I ordered was really quite good. The texture was perfect, a delicate creaminess that I like in Tiramisu. The sweet and bitter elements blended together well for a nicely rounded taste. My fiancee’s Caramel Crunch cream puff was very good. The cream was very light and fluffy with just the right amount of sweetness. The pastry part itself was soft and dusted with sugar. All-in-all both desserts were quite good.

The quality of their ingredients is reflected in the great taste of their food. Satura does a great job of serving up lighter desserts that are perfect after heavy meals. I thought the tiramisu was fantastic, but I think it would also be imperative to mention that this particular tiramisu was pure cream. If people are looking for something that’s a little more pastry-based then this may not be that good.
We always get pastries and cakes from Satura for parties. The strawberry shortcake is definitely a great dessert cake with coffee!
